Symptoms of Huntington's Disease


During the early stages of the disease, the affected person may experience:
    1. "slight, uncontrollable muscular movements
    2. stumbling and clumsiness
    3. lack of concentration
    4. short-term memory lapses
    5. depression, anxiety
    6. changes of mood, sometimes including aggressive or antisocial behaviour ("What...")"
    7. compulsiveness, which can cause addictions such as alcoholism or gambling
    8. not recognising expressions of disgust on other people's faces and not showing reactions of disgust to unpleasant smells or tastes
In later stages:
    1. the jerky, random movements get worse and their frequency increases
    2. loss of facial expression or exaggerated expressions
    3. inability to stand or sit stably
    4. speaking, eating and moving become difficult
    5. others may need to take care of the sufferer full-time
